Peter Obi welcomes President Tinubu to Abia, praises Alex Otti’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, urging support beyond party lines.

Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s planned visit to Abia State as a positive step in acknowledging genuine development efforts across the country.

Speaking ahead of the President’s October 3 visit, Obi stressed that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the President coming to commission key projects in Abia, notably the newly reconstructed Port Harcourt Road in Aba. He described the project as a major achievement of Governor Alex Otti’s administration.

Obi noted that Otti’s government has shown a clear focus on rehabilitating abandoned infrastructure. He highlighted the ongoing renovation of the School of Nursing in Amachara, Umuahia, as a project that, once completed, would ease pressure on the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, and boost healthcare delivery in the state.

He further observed that across Aba and Umuahia, roads that had been neglected for years are now receiving attention. “These are the little things that matter in governance, and they do not go unnoticed,” Obi said.

On the education sector, Obi acknowledged that although new schools are still in the pipeline, Governor Otti has shown commitment to reforms that will improve learning standards.

According to him, Tinubu’s decision to commission projects in Abia despite belonging to a different political party is proof that governance should rise above partisanship. “What matters is the welfare of the people, not political affiliations,” Obi emphasized.

He concluded by joining Abians in welcoming the President, expressing hope that Tinubu would leave the state with good testimonials about Otti’s leadership and the progress being recorded in Abia.

“Welcome to Abia, Mr. President,” Obi stated.
