The Abia State Police Command has achieved another major breakthrough in the fight against child trafficking, reuniting three rescued children with their families after arresting two female suspects allegedly involved in the crime.

In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka (LLB, anipr), the suspects Chinasa Ukachukwu (30) and Adaoma Sunday (30) were taken into custody following investigations that led to the rescue of the children from Aba, Lagos, and Anambra States.
How It Happened
According to the statement, the case began on October 4, 2024, when the Command received a report that Mrs. Chinasa Ukachukwu, widow of the late Mr. Ukachukwu Ojimadu, left home with her four children, claiming she was attending a child dedication ceremony in Aba. Two days later, she returned home with only one child and could not explain the whereabouts of the remaining three.
Following her arrest, police operatives acted on credible intelligence to track down another suspect, Adaoma Sunday, which led to the recovery of the three missing children. The minors were rescued in different locations across Aba, Lagos, and Anambra, and have since been reunited with their families.
Earlier Rescues
The Command recalled its earlier operation on October 10, 2025, where it rescued eight infants and ten stolen children in a large-scale crackdown on child trafficking rings. During the process, Mr. Akinrinola Aliya Ayomide and Mr. Oladapo Olanipekun, both from Lagos State, identified two of the rescued children Akinrinola Aliyat Ayomide and Master Olanipekun Akoede Daniel with valid documents. Both children were later reunited with their parents.

Police Call for Public Vigilance
The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, commended the officers for their swift action and reassured residents of the Command’s dedication to protecting children and curbing child trafficking in the state.
