Retired DSP laments unpaid benefits, revealing how police escorted politicians hiding looted funds during service.
A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) has voiced deep frustration over the government’s failure to pay his long-overdue entitlements, shedding light on a troubling aspect of corruption within the system.
In an emotional outburst, the former officer revealed that during his years of service, police officers were often tasked with escorting politicians who had looted public funds, helping them conceal the money in their hometowns.

“We are the ones that escort politicians after they stole public money; we follow them to hide the money in their villages. Now, to pay us our entitlement is an issue,” the retired DSP lamented.
His statement exposes the moral and institutional decay that has long plagued Nigeria’s law enforcement and political systems. Many retired officers across the country continue to face similar struggles, unpaid gratuities, delayed pensions, and lack of welfare, despite years of dedicated service.
The revelation has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for reform in the police welfare system and stricter accountability for corrupt politicians who exploit state resources while neglecting those who once served the nation.
