In pursuance of a collaboration between Abia State Government and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Bui Quoc Hung has held meetings with the business communities in Abia State.Speaking at the different business meetings with the Umuahia and Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Bui Quoc Hung said that Vietnam and Nigeria have many things in common.Mr. Hung said that he engaged the business community in order to identify areas of collaboration for mutual benefits and stressed the commitment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to fostering a strong bilateral relationship with Abia State.

He told the business community that his country is ready to collaborate with Abia State in certain areas such as agriculture, textiles and garments, manufacturing and electronics among others.”We have discussed about some strong development areas like agriculture, manufacturing, textiles and garment, sea food and electronics. Of course, we focused much on agriculture, textiles and food production in Nigeria.”We think that we can work together in order to increase productivity, quality, quantity and the value chains,” Ambassador Hung noted.

He appreciated the willingness of Governor Alex Otti to partner with them in various areas of the economy for development and extended invitation to the Abia business communities to seize the opportunity of the relationship to visit Vietnam during business expos and exhibitions.Also speaking, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce Mr. Kingsley Nwokocha said that he sees a future in the collaboration between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Abia State while his Industry and SMEs colleague, Mr. Mike Akpara asked the visiting Ambassador to convince and attract Vietnamese investors to bring back the Moribund Aba Textile Mill and take advantage of the ready textile markets in Abia State which services the entire Nigeria and West Africa Sub-region.

He said that the country is good at manufacturing and agriculture, hence, Abia State is going to collaborate with them (Vietnam) in manufacturing and agriculture for the developments of manufacturing sectors and Agro-businesses.In their speeches, the President, Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (UCCIMA) and his Aba Chamber of Commerce (ACCIMA) counterpart said that they are looking at how best to market Abia State to the world by exploring the available investment opportunities they can tap from Vietnam.

They said that the delegation has interacted with the business community in the State and has identified agriculture, manufacturing, textiles, cashew nuts and other areas for collaboration.The Vietnamese delegation later visited Gulden Guinea Brewery, Umuahia, Saclux Paint Industry, Umuahia, Cashew plantation at Umunneochi, the Moribund Aba Textile Mill, Aba and the Ekeoha Textile Market Clusters, Aba among other places.
