The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of a long-wanted drug kingpin, Lekan Jimoh, popularly known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” more than a decade after he allegedly orchestrated the killing of three NDLEA officers.
Jimoh was apprehended by NDLEA tactical operatives on January 16, 2026, in Owode, Ogun State, following intelligence-led operations that traced him to his hideout.
During the raid, officers recovered 69 kilograms of skunk, a prohibited substance, further linking the suspect to large-scale drug trafficking activities that had kept him on the agency’s wanted list for years.
The arrest is connected to a violent incident in 2014 when NDLEA officers attempted to arrest Jimoh. The operation was met with a deadly ambush that claimed the lives of three officers, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure. Since then, Kanmo-Kanmo had evaded arrest, becoming one of the most elusive figures in Nigeria’s illicit drug trade.
Reacting to the development, NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), described the arrest as a significant victory for justice and accountability. He noted that the operation reflects the agency’s unwavering commitment to tracking down violent drug traffickers, no matter how long it takes.

Marwa dedicated the success to the families of the fallen officers, emphasizing that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its resolve to dismantle drug networks across the country and ensure that individuals responsible for attacks on law enforcement officers are brought to justice, regardless of how many years have passed.
