In a recent video released by News Central TV, former Nigerian Minister of Solid Minerals and economic policy expert Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili criticised politicians in Nigeria and also the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of irresponsible conduct.
Ezekwesili expressed concerns over what she described as a series of clampdowns against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that efforts were being made to suppress her voice
Speaking about the Senate President at some point during the interview, she said that, “If Senator Akpabio was to be here, I would say to him that you have conducted yourself irresponsibly. There have been a series of clampdowns that Senator Natasha felt. She felt that she increasingly was finding a very narrow space to express herself. We detest the fact that there is a gang up to frustrate and to take her voice.
Regarding Nigerian politicians, the advocate for transparency, accountability, good governance, and human capital development stated that, “so we now have what I frankly call a criminal enterprise gang. Politicians are the criminals. We need to admit it. They began to look at the rest of the society as a bunch of stupid people who cannot do anything. The only thing that drives them is to access power just for the sake of power.
On what her wish is someday, she said that, “I look forward to the younger generation taking the space of public leadership.
