The spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has stirred reactions on social media after he advised Nigerians to patronize competent lawyers so that they will not end in jail.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adejobi reacted to a statement made by an X user identified as Prince Ikenga, who questioned the distinction between competent and quack lawyers. Ikenga argued that all lawyers undergo the same education and training, stating that some individuals merely fear encountering human rights and activist lawyers.
In response, Adejobi questioned whether a trained and competent lawyer should be ignorant of the nation’s laws, asserting that any lawyer who lacks such knowledge is a “quack,” regardless of their specialty.
His exact words were, “should a trained and competent lawyer be ignorant of the law of the land? Is that a lawyer? Whether he’s a human right or a human left lawyer, such a lawyer is a quack.”
