Yakubu Dogara blames Buhari for Nigeria’s naira crash, citing ₦22.7 trillion printing as the root cause of the country’s economic crisis.
Former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has openly blamed former President Muhammadu Buhari for the current economic turmoil and sharp depreciation of the naira.
Dogara alleged that the Buhari administration’s decision to print ₦22.7 trillion through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) drastically weakened the national currency and crippled the economy. According to him, the excessive borrowing and uncontrolled monetary expansion during Buhari’s tenure set the stage for Nigeria’s present fiscal crisis.
He emphasized that reckless money supply and lack of proper economic planning have led to inflation, rising poverty, and dwindling investor confidence. Dogara also urged the current administration to take decisive steps to restore monetary discipline, strengthen fiscal responsibility, and rebuild public trust in the Nigerian financial system.
