FG Declares May 27 and 28 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Kabir Celebration
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The announcement was made as Muslims across Nigeria and other parts of the world prepare to observe the annual Islamic festival, which is widely celebrated with prayers, charity, and family gatherings.
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, remains one of the most significant celebrations in Islam. The holiday commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
The Federal Government urged Nigerians to use the holiday period to promote peace, unity, religious tolerance, and national development. Citizens were also encouraged to celebrate responsibly and pray for continued progress and stability in the country.
