President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the appointments of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three-year term.
The renewed tenure of both media executives will commence on October 20, 2026, following their initial appointments by President Tinubu on October 20, 2023.
Dembos, a native of Yola in Adamawa State, is a veteran broadcaster and former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU). He joined the NTA in 1989 as an announcer at the Kaduna station after completing his National Youth Service.
Over the course of his career, he held several leadership positions within the NTA, including General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano. He retired from the organisation in 2017 as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre and later served as Executive Director of Marketing.
Meanwhile, Ali Mohammed Ali is an experienced journalist and media administrator with more than three decades of professional experience. His career has focused significantly on media development, content production and adapting journalism to the changing demands of the digital information environment.
Ali holds a degree in English from Bayero University, Kano, a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano.
In renewing their appointments, President Tinubu charged the two chief executives to continue justifying the confidence placed in them by strengthening the operations of their respective organisations and fulfilling their statutory mandates.
The President also urged Dembos and Ali to remain committed to advancing professional media standards while supporting the communication and objectives of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
