Federal Government Declares Friday, June 12 Public Holiday for Democracy Day Celebration
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 12, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebration across the country.
The announcement was made to commemorate Nigeria’s annual Democracy Day, a national event set aside to honour the country’s democratic journey and reflect on its progress in governance since the return to civilian rule.
June 12 holds a significant place in Nigeria’s political history, widely recognized as a symbol of democratic struggle and civic participation. The day is observed nationwide with public events, official statements, and reflections by government institutions and civil society groups on the state of democracy in the country.
