Defence Ministry Debunks Resignation Rumours, Says Minister Christopher Gwabin Musa Remains Focused on National Security
The Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that the Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, plans to resign from office.
In an official public disclaimer issued by the Minister’s media office, the reports were described as malicious, fabricated, and intended to mislead the public.
According to the statement, General Christopher Gwabin Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence and continues to focus on strengthening the country’s security architecture. The office stressed that the Minister has not expressed any intention to step down and remains dedicated to delivering on the Federal Government’s defence and national security objectives.
The statement further noted that the rumour is entirely baseless and urged Nigerians to ignore the false claims being circulated across various online and social media platforms.
The Ministry also appealed to journalists, bloggers, and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing it. It advised members of the public to seek clarification directly from the Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence whenever there is uncertainty regarding official matters.

The disclaimer was signed by Leah Katung-Babatunde, Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Defence, who reaffirmed that the Minister remains steadfast in carrying out his constitutional duties and advancing Nigeria’s defence strategy.
