The Abia State Government has officially announced a Solemn Assembly and Covenant Renewal Service, part of a broader spiritual initiative aimed at prayer, gratitude, and seeking divine guidance for the state.
This program, themed “Remembering the Covenant,” is set to unite members of the State Executive Council (EXCO), elected officials, political appointees, traditional leaders, church representatives, civil servants, and other stakeholders for a time of collective prayer and spiritual introspection.
To kick things off, the state government has declared three days of prayer and fasting from Monday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Participants are encouraged to fast daily from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with government officials, civil servants, churches, and families invited to join in from their own locations.
The announcement emphasizes that this initiative aims to give Abians a chance to come together in seeking God’s guidance, renewing their commitment to the state’s wellbeing, and praying for ongoing protection and direction.
The highlight of the program, the Solemn Assembly and Covenant Renewal Service, is set for Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the JAAC Building Auditorium in Umuahia, running from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This gathering will bring together members of the State Executive Council, elected representatives, political appointees, civil service leaders, religious figures, traditional rulers, political party leaders, and other key stakeholders.
The government believes this assembly will serve as a vital platform for representatives from various sectors to unite in prayer, reflection, and covenant renewal, dedicating the future of Abia State to God.

Following this, Thanksgiving Services will take place in all Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Churches across Abia State on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Additionally, Sunday, September 27, 2026, has been designated for further celebrations.
