Hon. Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro Declares 2027 Ambition for Bende North Under Labour Party, Unveils ‘PROMISE Manifesto’

Official Declaration Of Hon Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro For Bende North State Constituency Seat (2027) under Labaour Party with The ‘PROMISE MANIFESTO’

PROTOCOL:

Our dear party leaders, respected elders, critical stakeholders, ward chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, councillors, and my dear people of Bende North,

Today is not just another day in my political journey, it is a defining moment of purpose, conviction, and responsibility. With a heart full of gratitude to God and a firm belief in the future of our constituency, I, Hon. Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro, anipr, hereby formally declare my intention to contest for the ticket of the Labour Party (LP) to represent Bende North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly in the 2027 General Elections.

Let me begin by acknowledging and commending His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, for redefining governance in Abia State. In just three years, his administration has demonstrated that purposeful leadership can restore confidence in government. The ongoing construction of Umunneato General Hospital, which will serve the entire Abia North, the reconstruction of the Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Alayi–Igbere–Abriba road, the decisive intervention on the erosion challenge along Alayi–Item axis, and the construction of primary healthcare centres across communities are practical proofs of leadership with vision.

These achievements are not just projects, they are symbols of what is possible when leadership is intentional.

My people, during my service as the elected Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government Area between December 2020 and December 2022, I approached leadership with a people-first mindset. I understood clearly that leadership is not about occupying a position but about solving problems, creating opportunities, and improving lives. Through collaborative governance, accessibility, and grassroots engagement, we recorded measurable impacts, impacts that continue to speak through the testimonies of our people.

However, I believe strongly that there is more to be done.

Bende North is a constituency rich in potential but in need of stronger legislative representation; a representation that is visible, accessible, proactive, and deeply connected to the people. Representation that does not only ‘speak’ but delivers.

While I acknowledge the efforts of the current lawmaker, I am convinced that the time has come for a new wave of leadership, one that is driven by competence, innovation, inclusiveness, and measurable results, let me make it clear that I wholeheartedly supported, voted for the current Lawmaker during the 2023 general elections against several pressures when he was looking for the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).

I am aware of the growing conversations around return tickets. However, Bende North is politically unique. Since 2011, history has shown that no candidate has successfully returned for a second term, moreover second term is not a matter of automatic entitlement. This is not a coincidence, it reflects the expectations of our people for renewed representation. Therefore, I respectfully call for thorough consultation and strategic decision-making that aligns with the realities of our constituency.

My aspiration is not driven by personal ambition alone; it is driven by a burden to serve, to uplift, and to transform Bende North State Constituency through quality legislative representation.

And this is why , I have already developed a a manifesto anchored on a simple but powerful word—PROMISE.

“THE PROMISE MANIFESTO”

P – People-Centered Representation
I will prioritize constant engagement with constituents through regular town hall meetings, feedback channels, and constituency offices that truly serve the people. Representation will no longer be distant, it will be participatory, responsive, and accountable.

R – Rural Development & Infrastructure Advocacy

I will champion laws and attract projects that focus on rural roads, electrification, water supply, and erosion control. No community in Bende North should feel forgotten.

O – Opportunities for Youth & Women
Through strategic partnerships and legislative backing, I will facilitate skills acquisition programmes, entrepreneurship support, and access to funding for youths and women. Empowerment will be practical, not theoretical.

M – Medical & Health Support Systems
Building on the current health sector improvements, I will push for better primary healthcare access, support for community health outreach programmes, and policies that improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

I – Institutional Strengthening & Transparency

I will promote transparency, accountability, and good governance through legislative oversight and advocacy. Public trust must be earned and sustained.

S – Security & Social Stability
I will collaborate with security agencies and community leaders to support initiatives that enhance safety, protect lives and property, and promote peaceful coexistence across our communities.

E – Education & Human Capital Development

I will advocate for improved educational infrastructure, teacher support systems, scholarships, and learning opportunities that prepare our young people for a competitive future.

Nde Umunna, this is more than a political declaration, it is a covenant of service.

Since 2025, I have engaged in wide consultations with stakeholders across our constituency, and I remain committed to continuous dialogue. Leadership is not imposed, it is built through trust, consultation, and shared vision.

I understand that not everyone may believe in this vision immediately, but I draw my strength from God Almighty and from the conviction that I have the capacity to deliver results that will speak for themselves.

By equity, fairness, competence, and proven service, I humbly present myself for consideration as the candidate of the Labour Party for Bende North State Constituency, and I can assure you all that I have the contact, relationship and goodwill to win the election.

And if given the opportunity, I will not only represent you, I will make you proud.

Together, let us redefine representation.
Together, let us build a Bende North that works for everyone.
