Anulika Onyeanusi Pleads Not Guilty to 14-Count Charge Over Alleged Abuse of Two Daughters
Mrs. Anulika Nwokike Onyeanusi, 35, has pleaded not guilty to a 14-count charge bordering on the alleged sexual abuse and exploitation of her two daughters, aged seven and nine, in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The defendant’s plea was entered on Wednesday during proceedings at the Anambra State High Court’s specialised Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka.
The charges against Onyeanusi reportedly include allegations of rape, using minors for pornographic purposes, sexual exploitation, and emotional and psychological abuse. The allegations have attracted public attention following the circulation of a viral video relating to the case.
The proceedings are being presided over by Justice Peace Otti, who is handling the matter at the specialised court established to address cases involving children and sexual and gender-based violence.
Following the defendant’s plea, the court adjourned the case until November 27, 2026, when it is expected to deliver its ruling on her bail application.
The case remains before the court, and the allegations have yet to be determined through the judicial process. The defendant’s plea of not guilty means the prosecution must establish its case in accordance with the law.
The matter has also drawn attention to the importance of protecting children from sexual exploitation and abuse, ensuring that allegations involving minors are handled with sensitivity, and allowing the judicial process to determine the facts.
