The lawmaker representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Obi Aguocha, has responded strongly to remarks allegedly made by fellow politician Chinedum Orji, describing the comments as attention-seeking and politically motivated.
In a statement, Aguocha dismissed Orji’s criticism, accusing him of leveraging his name for relevance. He argued that such tactics reflect a lack of meaningful engagement with the issues affecting constituents in Ikwuano and Umuahia.
The outspoken federal representative further questioned Orji’s record in public office, suggesting that his past years in leadership did little to improve the welfare of the people. Aguocha referenced what he described as a period of missed opportunities for development in Abia State, implying that voters have not forgotten the outcomes of that era.
Maintaining focus on his current mandate, Aguocha emphasized that he would not be drawn into unnecessary political distractions. He pointed out that Orji is still an aspirant seeking his party’s nomination and may not ultimately secure a place on the ballot, given the level of competition within his party.
According to Aguocha, engaging in a public dispute at this stage would be premature and unproductive. He advised that Orji should instead concentrate on rebuilding his political image and earning the confidence of his party ahead of the primaries.
