ADC Unveils Timetable for 2026 Primary Elections, Announces Nomination Fees

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially published its schedule for the 2026 primary elections, outlining key dates and processes ahead of the exercise. The party says the timetable underscores its commitment to transparency, internal democracy, and strict adherence to electoral regulations.


According to a statement signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, the sale of nomination forms will run from May 5 to May 10, 2026. Aspirants are expected to submit completed forms between May 11 and May 13, 2026.


The screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 14 and May 15, 2026, while the results of the screening process will be released on May 17, 2026.

Candidates who wish to challenge the outcome can file appeals between May 18 and May 19, with the final list of cleared aspirants set to be published on May 20, 2026.


Primary elections will begin on May 21, 2026, covering State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate positions, all to be conducted simultaneously at the ward level.

Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, while the party’s presidential primary is slated for May 25, 2026.


The process will conclude with a meeting of the National Executive Committee on May 26, 2026, and a Special National Convention on May 27, 2026, where final endorsements and ratifications will be carried out.


In addition to the timetable, the ADC has approved a structured fee system for nomination forms across all elective offices. The presidential form is priced at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.


To promote inclusivity, the party announced discounted rates for certain groups. Youth aspirants will receive a 50 percent reduction, while women and persons living with disabilities are entitled to a 25 percent discount on nomination fees.

The party has urged all members, stakeholders, and prospective candidates to strictly follow the outlined guidelines and timelines to ensure a smooth and credible primary election process.
