18 APC governors have reaffirmed support for PGF chairman Hope Uzodimma, dismissing rumours of plans to replace him.
Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reaffirmed their support for the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, dismissing reports suggesting plans to replace him.
The 18 APC governors reportedly passed a vote of confidence in Uzodimma’s leadership, describing the speculation surrounding his position as unfounded and politically motivated. The governors maintained that the Imo State governor continues to enjoy their collective trust and support as chairman of the forum.
According to sources within the ruling party, the governors commended Uzodimma for fostering unity among APC governors and strengthening cooperation within the party ahead of future political engagements. They stressed that there is currently no discussion or arrangement to remove him from office.
The endorsement comes amid growing rumours in some political circles that certain stakeholders within the APC were considering changes in the leadership of the Progressive Governors’ Forum. However, the governors insisted that the reports were false and aimed at creating unnecessary tension within the party.
Party insiders noted that the governors remain focused on governance, party stability, and supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu rather than engaging in internal distractions.
Uzodimma, who has chaired the forum since 2023, has played a key role in coordinating the activities of APC governors across the country. His leadership has also been linked to efforts aimed at strengthening party cohesion and advancing the policies of the ruling party.
