The Abia State Government has inaugurated a five-member Special Investigative Committee to examine allegations of harassment, bribery, and certificate forgery involving staff and students of Abia State University.
The decision was announced following the Executive Council meeting chaired by Alex Otti, as the state government moves to strengthen accountability and ethical standards within the institution.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Okey Kanu disclosed that the committee would be chaired by Professor Caleb Ajagba. He noted that the panel was constituted to thoroughly investigate the allegations and ensure transparency in the university system.
According to the commissioner, the investigative committee has been mandated to identify individuals involved in the alleged misconduct and make appropriate recommendations to the university’s Visitor for further action.
The state government emphasized that the initiative reflects its commitment to protecting the integrity of academic institutions and restoring public confidence in the educational sector.
