The Abia State Homeland Security Agency has dismissed one of its officers, Mr. Sunday Ndifreke Essien, Service No. 26/0472, following disciplinary proceedings over alleged violations of the Agency’s Code of Conduct.
The Agency announced Essien’s dismissal in a statement signed by its Management, explaining that the decision was reached after an investigation into allegations of serious misconduct.
According to the statement, the officer was found culpable of theft, gross misconduct, insubordination and breach of public trust. The findings prompted the Agency to apply the appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with its established rules and procedures.
Following his dismissal, Essien has been directed to immediately surrender all property belonging to the Agency that remains in his possession and complete the required clearance process.
The Abia State Homeland Security Agency further stated that, where necessary, the matter has been referred to the relevant law enforcement authorities for additional investigation and possible prosecution in line with applicable laws.
The Agency said the disciplinary action demonstrates its firm commitment to maintaining discipline, integrity, accountability and professionalism among its personnel.
It warned that acts capable of compromising public confidence, violating its Code of Conduct or damaging the reputation of the organisation would not be tolerated and would be handled through established disciplinary procedures and within the provisions of the law.
The Agency also reassured residents of Abia State of its commitment to maintaining high standards of professional conduct as it carries out its responsibilities, particularly in protecting lives, property and the security interests of the people.
