The Abia State Leadership Academy (ASLA) has officially opened applications for its 2026 Youth Leadership Bootcamp, offering young people across the state an opportunity to develop leadership skills, civic values, and a strong sense of responsibility at no cost.
The academy, an initiative of the administration of Governor Alex Otti, is designed to nurture a new generation of ethical and innovative leaders by equipping participants with practical leadership training, mentorship, and personal development opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to male and female candidates between the ages of 16 and 20 years. Interested applicants must belong to one of the following categories:
- Students currently enrolled in senior secondary schools.
- Early-year undergraduate students in tertiary institutions.
- Candidates who have recently completed their Senior Secondary School Examinations.
Registration Requirements
Applicants are required to have the following documents and information available before starting the application process:
- Abia State Social Identification Number (ABSSIN).
- National Identification Number (NIN).
- Copies of relevant academic credentials for screening and verification.
Candidates who successfully meet the eligibility requirements will be shortlisted and invited to participate in qualifying tests and interviews as part of the selection process.

About the Abia State Leadership Academy
The Abia State Leadership Academy was established by the Governor Alex Otti administration to promote leadership excellence, integrity, civic responsibility, value creation, and public service among young people, public servants, and entrepreneurs across the state.
Participation in the academy is completely free. The Abia State Government will cover all expenses associated with registration, training, learning materials, and logistics, ensuring that qualified participants can benefit without financial burden.
Appeal to Parents and Educators
The academy has called on parents, guardians, teachers, and school administrators to encourage eligible students and young people to apply for the programme, describing it as a valuable platform for leadership development and future success.
However, individuals who participated in the academy’s 2025 cohort are not eligible to apply for the 2026 programme.
