Elderly Nigerian Man Shares Emotional Story of Family Separation, Claims False Allegations Destroyed His Marriage
An elderly Nigerian man has shared a deeply emotional account of how his marriage allegedly collapsed after he sacrificed years of his life and finances to support his wife’s education in the United Kingdom.
Speaking during an interview that has attracted widespread attention on social media, the man recounted his decades-long separation from his children, saying he last lived with his family in 1983.
According to him, he married his wife in 1968 before relocating to the UK in 1969. He said his wife joined him in Britain in 1970, and over the years, he worked hard to improve their lives.
The elderly man explained that he made significant financial sacrifices to help his wife pursue higher education. He claimed he sponsored her doctoral studies in the UK, paying approximately £11,000 per year for three years to ensure she completed her PhD.
He said his efforts were driven by love and a desire to give his wife opportunities she did not have while growing up, describing her as someone who came from a humble background.
However, he alleged that their relationship took a tragic turn in 1983, when his wife accused him of sexually abusing their daughter. According to him, the allegations were false and eventually led to legal proceedings in the UK.
The man claimed the court case resulted in his deportation from the United Kingdom, bringing an abrupt end to the life he had built abroad.
Reflecting on the years that followed, he said the separation from his children became permanent because, in his view, his former wife turned them against him. He alleged that she influenced them to believe the accusations made against him, making reconciliation impossible.
When asked why none of his children had reached out to him despite the passage of several decades, the elderly man responded that they had been “poisoned” against him.
During the interview, he also spoke about his daughter, initially stating she was 58 years old before later indicating that she had passed away many years ago. The interview contained conflicting statements regarding the timeline of her death.
His emotional story has sparked mixed reactions online, with many expressing sympathy over his years of loneliness, while others have urged caution, noting that the interview presents only one side of a deeply personal family dispute and that the allegations have not been independently verified.
