The All Progressives Congress has announced a slight adjustment to its timetable for the 2027 general election primaries, moving the House of Representatives primary election to Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The decision was disclosed in a press statement released by the party on Thursday, clarifying that the change affects only the House of Representatives primary schedule, while all other previously announced dates remain intact.
According to the updated timetable released by the APC, aspirants contesting for seats in the House of Representatives will now participate in their primaries on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The party maintained that the Senate primary election will still hold on Monday, May 18, while the State House of Assembly primaries are scheduled for Wednesday, May 20.
The APC further confirmed that governorship primaries will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, while the presidential primary election is expected to hold on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Political observers believe the adjustment may have been made to ensure better coordination and smooth conduct of the party’s internal electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections. The revised schedule is expected to guide party members, delegates, and aspirants preparing for the highly anticipated primaries.
