Court Grants El-Rufai ₦100 Million Bail, Orders Monthly DSS Reporting

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of ₦100 million pending the determination of his ongoing trial.

Justice Abdulmalik, who presided over the matter, ruled that the former governor must provide one surety in like sum as part of the bail conditions. The court also directed El-Rufai to surrender all his international passports to the court authorities.

In addition, the judge ordered the former governor to report monthly to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) throughout the duration of the trial.

The ruling marks a significant development in the legal proceedings involving the former Kaduna State governor, attracting widespread political and public attention across the country. Legal analysts believe the court’s decision reflects an effort to ensure El-Rufai remains available for trial while preserving his constitutional rights.

Supporters of the former governor have continued to express confidence in his innocence, while observers say the case could have implications for Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
