Gov. Alex Otti Confident of Completing Eight-Year Mandate in Abia

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his confidence in completing his administration’s mission, expressing faith that his tenure will run its full course with impactful results for the people of the state.

The governor made this known on Tuesday while receiving members of the Old Students Association of the Federal School of Arts and Science, Aba, at his office. The delegation had visited to commend his performance and expressed optimism about his re-election in 2027 to sustain ongoing development projects.

Speaking on the political landscape ahead of the next election cycle, Otti noted that while preparations for party primaries and elections would take place as scheduled, his administration remains focused on governance rather than political distractions. He emphasized that the people of Abia State are discerning and capable of making informed decisions about their future.

According to him, his leadership is guided by a strong belief in divine purpose, stating that the mission entrusted to his administration would be completed without interruption. He reiterated that his government is committed to delivering sustainable development and fulfilling its promises to the people.

Governor Otti also praised the alumni association for its initiative to renovate a hostel in their alma mater, describing the gesture as commendable and a reflection of responsible citizenship. He encouraged them to sustain their contributions to the growth of the institution.

Highlighting ongoing efforts in the power sector, the governor disclosed his administration’s support for Bart Nnaji in advancing the Aba power project. He explained that the goal is to ensure stable electricity supply across the state.

Otti further revealed that the government has finalized agreements to acquire the Umuahia ring-fenced operations of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC). Once completed, this move will enable the extension of electricity from Aba to other parts of the state, including Abia Central and Abia North senatorial zones.

He added that with increased generation capacity from the Geometric Power plant, power supply will be significantly improved. The establishment of the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Agency, he said, marks a step toward greater autonomy in energy regulation within the state.

Earlier, the association’s president, Pharmacist Tony Ejieji, commended the governor’s achievements, noting improvements in security and infrastructure.

He stated that the group chose Abia as the venue for its bi-annual meeting due to the peaceful environment, having previously held such gatherings in Lagos.

Ejieji also highlighted the alumni’s visit to the Geometric Power Plant and other project sites in Aba and Umuahia, expressing confidence that the current administration’s progress would continue uninterrupted.
