A concerned citizen of Kogi State, Comrade Rotr. Rotimi Oke, has appealed to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to initiate a large-scale recruitment exercise across the state’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to address unemployment and improve public service delivery.
In an open letter addressed to the governor, Oke praised the administration’s efforts in promoting good governance and implementing development projects across key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and social welfare. He noted that these achievements have strengthened public confidence in the current administration.
Despite these accomplishments, he emphasized that unemployment remains one of the biggest challenges facing Kogi State, particularly among qualified graduates and skilled professionals.
According to the letter, many educated youths, including teachers, healthcare workers, engineers, planners, administrators, and other professionals, remain unemployed despite having the expertise needed to contribute to the state’s development.
The appeal further highlighted that several government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are currently experiencing manpower shortages due to staff retirements, resignations, and the increasing demand for efficient public service delivery. This situation, the letter argued, has placed additional pressure on existing workers while limiting the effectiveness of government institutions.
Oke therefore urged Governor Ododo to approve a comprehensive, transparent, and merit-based recruitment exercise that would strengthen the workforce across state institutions. He stressed that such an initiative would improve service delivery, create employment opportunities for qualified citizens, and support economic growth throughout Kogi State.
According to the appeal, a fair and inclusive recruitment process would restore hope to thousands of unemployed graduates, boost public confidence in government, reduce poverty, and discourage social vices by providing meaningful opportunities for the state’s youth.
The letter also described investment in human capital as one of the most valuable steps any government can take, noting that empowering qualified citizens to serve in public institutions would contribute significantly to the long-term development of Kogi State.
Expressing confidence in Governor Ododo’s leadership, the author appealed for thoughtful consideration of the proposal, stating that expanding employment opportunities would allow more citizens to contribute to the growth and progress of the state.

I write this open letter with utmost respect and appreciation for your purposeful leadership, commitment to good governance, and the developmental strides your administration has recorded across Kogi State. Your dedication to improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and the welfare of the people has continued to inspire confidence among citizens.
Your Excellency, one of the most pressing challenges facing our state today is the growing rate of unemployment, especially among qualified and capable young people. Thousands of graduates, professionals, teachers, healthcare workers, engineers, planners, administrators, and other skilled individuals remain unemployed despite possessing the knowledge and competence to contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear state.
Many Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are currently operating with inadequate manpower due to retirements, resignations, and the increasing demand for efficient public service delivery. This shortage of personnel places enormous pressure on the existing workforce and limits the capacity of government institutions to meet the expectations of the people.
It is therefore my humble appeal that your administration considers a comprehensive and transparent recruitment exercise across the various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of Kogi State. Such an initiative would strengthen public institutions, improve service delivery, create employment opportunities for deserving citizens, and stimulate economic growth across the state.
A merit-based recruitment process that is fair, transparent, and inclusive will not only restore hope to thousands of unemployed graduates but also reinforce public confidence in government. It will empower families, reduce poverty, discourage social vices, and harness the talents of our educated youth for the collective progress of Kogi State.
Your Excellency, this appeal is not merely a request for employment but a call to invest in the human capital that will drive the future of our state.
