Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has paid a condolence visit to former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, following the death of his mother, Late Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
Governor Otti visited Amaechi and his family on Saturday, August 29, 2026, to personally express his sympathy over the painful loss.
Late Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi reportedly passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 89.
During the visit, Governor Otti spent time with the former Rivers State Governor and members of his family, offering words of comfort and prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
The Abia State Governor also signed the condolence register in honour of the late matriarch.
Governor Otti and Amaechi share a longstanding personal relationship that dates back more than three decades to their days at the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State. Their friendship has endured through the years despite their journeys through different sectors of public and professional life.
Rt. Hon. Amaechi has held several prominent positions in Nigeria, including Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation.
The condolence visit further reflected the long-standing bond between the two political leaders, as Governor Otti joined the Amaechi family in mourning the passing of their beloved mother.
The late Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Governor Otti prayed that God would grant the Amaechi family the strength and comfort to bear the loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.
