The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Adeleke secured a total of 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The result gave the incumbent governor a winning margin of 66,252 votes, strengthening his position as he secures another four-year term in office.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came third in the election with 17,180 votes.
According to the results announced by the electoral commission, Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji emerged victorious in the remaining 11 LGAs.
The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, formally declared Adeleke the winner at the INEC collation centre in Osogbo in the early hours of Sunday, August 16, 2026.
With the declaration, Adeleke is set to continue as governor of Osun State for another four years, following his victory over the APC candidate in what was a closely contested governorship election.
The outcome marks a significant development in Osun State politics and gives Adeleke a fresh mandate to continue implementing his administration’s policies and programmes across the state.
