Labour Party Abia Chapter Launches Essay Writing Competition with Over N2.8 Million in Prizes

The Labour Party Abia State Chapter has announced the commencement of its 2026 Essay Writing Competition, offering students across the state an opportunity to showcase their writing skills while competing for cash prizes worth more than N2.8 million.

According to the announcement, the competition is open to both tertiary institution and secondary school students under two separate categories. The initiative aims to encourage intellectual engagement among young people while promoting discussions around the state’s development.

The essay competition is themed “The New Abia and Need for Consolidation,” inviting participants to critically examine the progress recorded in Abia State and explore the importance of sustaining ongoing reforms and development initiatives.

Competition Categories and Prizes

The competition is divided into two categories:
Category A – Tertiary Institution Students
1st Prize: N1,000,000
2nd Prize: N500,000
3rd Prize: N300,000

Category B – Secondary School Students
1st Prize: N500,000
2nd Prize: N300,000
3rd Prize: N200,000

Eligibility
Participation is restricted to individuals who are Abians or residents of Abia State.

Submission Guidelines
Interested participants are required to:
Write an essay on the topic: “The New Abia and Need for Consolidation.”

Ensure the essay does not exceed 1,500 words.
