A fresh political debate has emerged ahead of the 2027 general elections as presidential aide Bayo Onanuga criticized the Nigeria Democratic Congress, saying the party has not presented a concrete development blueprint for Nigeria.
In a statement shared publicly, Onanuga questioned the ideological direction of the NDC, the platform recently associated with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso after their reported political alignment outside the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to Onanuga, he visited the party’s official website on different occasions to examine its manifesto and policy proposals but claimed he was unable to access any detailed governing document. He stated that attempts to download the manifesto reportedly returned a “No document found” response.
The presidential aide argued that despite the NDC’s promises of an ideological contest ahead of the 2027 elections, the party has yet to unveil a comprehensive policy framework capable of competing with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Onanuga also referenced comments made by former Bayelsa State governor and senior party figure Seriake Dickson, who had reportedly promised that the NDC would offer Nigerians a distinct political vision.
However, the presidential spokesman maintained that the few policy highlights displayed by the party do not amount to a clear ideological roadmap. He described them as broad political talking points rather than actionable governance strategies.

The remarks add to the growing political exchanges among major opposition figures and the ruling party as early alignments and coalition talks continue to shape the build-up to the 2027 presidential election.
