Rep. Obi Aguocha Appreciates National Assembly as Bill Establishing FMC in Ikwuano Advances to Presidential Assent

Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha Expresses Appreciation to the National Assembly Following Passage of HB 1605

On the floor of the House of Representatives today, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, formally expressed his appreciation to the leadership and members of the National Assembly following the successful passage of HB 1605, the Bill establishing the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ikwuano, Abia State.

In his remarks, he thanked the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senators, and Members of the House for their support throughout the legislative process that culminated in the Senate’s concurrence on 16 July 2026.

Rt. Hon. Aguocha reflected on the legislative journey of the Bill, noting that it was first introduced on the floor of the House on 17 July 2024 and progressed through the required legislative stages before receiving the concurrence of the Senate.

He described the passage of the Bill as an example of the National Assembly’s legislative role in promoting measures intended to improve access to public services and national development.

Hon Obi Aguocha also noted that, having completed the legislative process in the National Assembly, the Bill will proceed to the next constitutional stage for Mr. Presidents Assent.

HB 1605, when signed into law, would establish the Federal Medical Centre in Ikwuano. The institution is intended to expand access to healthcare services while creating opportunities for employment, medical training, and economic activity in Ikwuano-Umuahia and Abia State.

Rt. Hon. Aguocha concluded by expressing appreciation to his constituents for their continued engagement and support throughout the legislative process and reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing further legislative initiatives aimed at promoting institutional and human capital development within Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
