Residents of School Road, Fimbar’s Road, Azikiwe Road, and parts of the Judiciary area in Umuahia have expressed deep appreciation to the Honourable Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, for his prompt response following the vandalization of the transformer serving the affected communities.

The unfortunate incident plunged the areas into darkness for several days, disrupting businesses, daily activities, and causing serious hardship for residents who depend heavily on electricity for their livelihoods.

According to members of the community, Hon. Obi Aguocha responded immediately after receiving reports about the incident. The federal lawmaker personally visited the transformer site, interacted with residents, and carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by the vandals.

In a move widely described as timely and compassionate, Hon. Aguocha donated the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000) to support the rebuilding and reinforcement of the transformer house. The intervention is also expected to facilitate security improvements around the facility to prevent future vandalism.

Community leaders further disclosed that arrangements are already underway for the replacement of vandalized cables, risers, and other damaged electrical components within the coming days, raising hopes of restoring electricity supply to the affected areas soon.

Residents praised the lawmaker for demonstrating responsive leadership and genuine concern for the welfare of his constituents. They noted that his swift intervention has restored confidence among community members and highlighted the importance of effective representation.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, Prince Okezie Ogbudu of Umuahia thanked Hon. Obi Aguocha for standing with the community during the difficult period and prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, and strength upon him as he continues to serve the people.
