Senator Emma Nwaka Endorses Governor Alex Otti for Second Term, Praises Performance in Abia and Isuikwuato

Former Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Emma Nwaka, has publicly endorsed the re-election bid of Alex Otti, declaring that the governor has achieved more for Abia State and Isuikwuato Local Government Area than any previous administration since the state’s creation.

Senator Nwaka, a founding member and former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is now a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress, made his position known during a courtesy visit to Governor Otti at the Government House on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the veteran politician reaffirmed his commitment to the APC while expressing strong support for Governor Otti’s second-term ambition. According to him, his endorsement was based on an objective assessment of the governor’s performance, visible infrastructural development across the state, and the need to uphold the principles of equity in Abia’s political leadership.

In a statement titled “This Is My Stand,” Nwaka argued that Governor Otti’s administration has delivered remarkable progress in infrastructure, prudent resource management, and people-focused projects that have improved the lives of residents across the state.

He maintained that the governorship should remain in Abia Central Senatorial District beyond 2027, stressing that Governor Otti deserves another four years to consolidate ongoing reforms and development initiatives.

According to the former senator, the governor’s first term has ushered in an unprecedented era of infrastructural growth, restoring confidence among Abians both at home and in the diaspora. He expressed confidence that a second term would place the state on a path of sustainable economic growth and long-term prosperity.

Nwaka further linked his support to the state’s power-sharing arrangement, often referred to as the Abia Charter of Equity. He argued that allowing Governor Otti to complete a second term would ensure a smooth transition of power to Abia North in 2031, particularly the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi axis, in line with expectations of political fairness and inclusion.

The APC chieftain clarified that he has no intention of contesting for the governorship in 2031, emphasizing that his position is motivated solely by what he believes is in the best interest of Abia State and its people.

Highlighting the governor’s impact on his home local government, Nwaka stated that Isuikwuato has witnessed unprecedented attention under the current administration. He cited infrastructure projects and appointments as evidence that the area has benefited significantly from Governor Otti’s leadership.

According to him, the achievements recorded in Isuikwuato make a compelling case for residents to support the governor’s re-election bid rather than abandon an administration that has positively impacted the area. He described Governor Otti as a leader with vision, competence, capacity, and a proven record of transformational governance.

Beyond state politics, Senator Nwaka also declared his support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. He argued that the president inherited significant economic challenges and has demonstrated courage through reforms aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy.

The former senator expressed optimism that the benefits of the Federal Government’s economic policies would gradually become more evident to Nigerians, adding that President Tinubu deserves another term to consolidate ongoing reforms.
