JUST IN: Tension as Court Fixes Date in Malami’s 57 Properties Case

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled July 2, 2026, to deliver judgment in the case concerning the final forfeiture of 57 properties allegedly linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The case, which has attracted significant public attention, revolves around properties said to have been acquired through questionable means. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is seeking a final forfeiture order from the court, arguing that the assets are proceeds of unlawful activities.

During proceedings, legal representatives from both sides presented their final arguments before the court fixed a date for judgment. The ruling is expected to determine whether the assets will permanently remain in the custody of the Federal Government or be returned to their owners.

The properties reportedly include houses, landed assets, and other high-value investments located in different parts of the country. The anti-graft agency had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order pending the conclusion of the case.

The development marks another major step in Nigeria’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign, as authorities continue investigations into alleged financial crimes involving former public office holders.

Observers say the judgment could have far-reaching legal and political implications, especially given Malami’s prominent role in previous administrations.
