President Tinubu Appoints Ayo Fayose as REA Chairman, Announces 26 New Federal Appointments
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals to key positions across 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose named as the new Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen leadership in strategic institutions responsible for power, fiscal management, population, housing, education, agriculture, and public administration.
Ayo Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, will now lead the board of the Rural Electrification Agency, an institution tasked with expanding electricity access to underserved and rural communities across Nigeria. He will work alongside non-executive directors Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, remains in office together with the previously appointed Executive Directors.
In the National Salary and Wages Commission, President Tinubu appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman, while former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas will serve as Secretary. Other appointments to the commission include Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, Yakubu Umar Barde, Dr. Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh, and Bello Morenike Iyabode.
The President also approved the appointment of Tosin Johnson Adeyanju as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission, following his redeployment from the National Lottery Trust Fund.
Other notable appointments include Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State, succeeding the late Dr. A.R. Kamal.
For the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu was named Chairman alongside board members Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
President Tinubu also appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Prof. Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu.
In the Federal Housing Authority, Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar, and current Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, was appointed Executive Director (Finance).

According to the announcement, all 26 appointments take immediate effect as the Federal Government seeks to reinforce the leadership of critical agencies responsible for national development and service delivery.
