The United States has confirmed carrying out fresh airstrikes against Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island, a small Iranian island located near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The military action, carried out on Sunday, marked the first publicly disclosed US attack on Iranian targets since late July, signalling a renewed escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran.
According to US military officials, American forces targeted two Iranian launchers after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel were allegedly observed preparing rockets that could deploy sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
US officials described the operation as a limited and precise action aimed at preventing what they considered an imminent threat to one of the world’s most important maritime routes.
