A prominent political figure in Abia State, Ikechi Emenike, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that his decision is driven by a desire to help reposition Nigeria and address what he described as “miserable leadership.”
Emenike, who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections, made this disclosure on Friday while reacting to claims questioning his membership in the ADC. He dismissed the allegations as unfounded and politically motivated.
According to him, suggestions that his entry into the ADC could trigger internal conflict are baseless. He described such claims as “trash and pure blackmail,” emphasizing that his political career has always been centered on development, unity, and progress.
The Abia politician also challenged a group identified as ADC Vanguard, as well as those allegedly backing it, questioning their apparent unease over his defection. He noted that their reaction reflects fear rather than genuine concern for the party’s stability.
Emenike maintained that his move to the ADC aligns with his broader commitment to national transformation, stressing that Nigeria requires capable leadership focused on delivering meaningful change to its citizens.
