A live television interview involving Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, ended abruptly after a disagreement with Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni.
The exchange reportedly became tense when Olayinka declined to respond to questions from Oseni, saying he did not want to engage in a conversation he considered disrespectful.
Olayinka, who was appearing on the programme to discuss issues surrounding the FCT administration and the minister’s activities, directly addressed Oseni during the exchange.
“I don’t want to answer any question from you, Oseni Rufai,” Olayinka said, insisting that he preferred a discussion involving what he described as “reasonable human beings.”
He further objected to the use of the term “Gbewudani” in describing individuals, apparently referring to language used during previous political discussions on the programme.
“I want this conversation to be among reasonable human beings. People who won’t describe other people as ‘Gbewudani’,” Olayinka stated.
The disagreement reportedly brought the interview to an early end, preventing the programme from proceeding with the planned questions and discussion.
The incident has since drawn attention online, with viewers and political commentators debating the conduct of both the interviewer and the guest during the heated exchange.
The confrontation highlights the increasingly combative nature of political interviews in Nigeria, where disagreements over language, questioning styles and political affiliations can sometimes overshadow the substantive issues being discussed.
Olayinka is a media aide to Wike, a prominent political figure and former governor of Rivers State who currently oversees the Federal Capital Territory.
