Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi, has hailed Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti saying he has justified his election as governor of the state.

Speaking on Saturday during a Special Anniversary Sabbath Service in Umuahia, to mark the second year in office of Alex Otti As governor, Obi urged Nigerians to pray for those in leadership, stressing the need for God’s intervention in governance.

“That God should touch all of us who are leaders. Touch our hearts to use public money for public good. It is not our money. We are just trustees. Like it’s happening in Abia, we want it to happen everywhere in Nigeria,” he said.

He praised Otti’s administration for making a visible difference within two years, saying his achievements are self-evident.

“You don’t need to tune the radio. You don’t need people to tell you. There’s a difference. And that’s what we’re celebrating today,” Obi added. “People say they need eight or ten years to make an impact, but I’ve always said one day can make a difference.”

Governor Otti, in his remarks, attributed the achievements of his administration to divine grace and inspiration, quoting 1 Corinthians 3:6–7 to underscore the role of God in the success of his government.

“We all have worked hard, but you can work hard and get nothing if God doesn’t back you up,” Otti stated, while appreciating his team and supporters for their role in driving the state’s development agenda.

The Sabbath Service, themed “Two Years of Transformation: Sustaining the Momentum,” was held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Aguiyi Ironsi Layout, Umuahia. It featured prayers for the state government and a sermon by Pastor Enyinnaya Uguru, who reminded leaders to remain focused and not let present achievements derail their vision for the future.
