The Nigeria Police Force has taken a 32-year-old man named Nwogba Arinze into custody for allegedly trying to impersonate the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Anambra State.
Arinze’s arrest came after police received intelligence about a suspected fraud ring that was reportedly involved in impersonation and other shady activities in the area.
Acting on this information, police operatives launched an investigation to identify the members of this group and track down those believed to be participating in these alleged crimes.
According to the police, Arinze allegedly posed as the JAMB Registrar, aiming to mislead and deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
Authorities have stated that investigations are still underway to uncover the full extent of the impersonation activities and to see if others were involved in this suspected fraud scheme.
During the police operation, items thought to be linked to the alleged fraudulent activities were also recovered. Investigators plan to analyze these items as they work to piece together the details of the case.
The police emphasized that this arrest is part of a larger initiative to dismantle fraud networks and prevent criminals from exploiting the identities and positions of well-known public officials to deceive and defraud Nigerians.
As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on uncovering more information and determining if additional arrests will be made.
