YEIDEP warns Nigerians about a fake ₦500,000 grant and scholarship offer circulating online, urging the public to verify information through official channels.
The Youth Economic Intervention and De-radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) has issued a public warning, distancing itself from a viral advert claiming it is offering agricultural training scholarships alongside a ₦500,000 business grant in partnership with Fidelity Bank Plc.
In an official statement signed by its Coordinator-General, Kennedy Iyere, the programme described the circulating flyer as false and misleading.
According to Iyere, the material is the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit unsuspecting Nigerians.
The fake advert reportedly carries the logos of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and Fidelity Bank, giving it a deceptive appearance of legitimacy. However, YEIDEP clarified that it has no such partnership or initiative as portrayed in the flyer.
Iyere emphasized that the programme does not offer any agricultural scholarship or grant scheme tied to the viral claim, warning that the information is a deliberate attempt to facilitate financial scams. He urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid engaging with unverified offers.
The organisation reiterated that all authentic updates regarding its programmes are communicated through credible channels, including national newspapers and the official platforms of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, particularly updates from the Honourable Minister’s office.
