2027: Peter Obi Dumps ADC, Cites Internal Crisis and Political Interference

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has officially announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing growing internal instability and external interference as key reasons behind his decision.

In a statement addressing his departure, Obi clarified that his exit was not due to any personal grievances with the party’s leadership. He specifically expressed continued respect for ADC National Chairman, David Mark, as well as political leader Atiku Abubakar and other stakeholders within the party.

Obi stated that his decision was driven by concerns over emerging challenges within the ADC, which he believes mirror the issues that plagued the Labour Party during his time there. According to him, the increasing presence of internal disputes, legal battles, and political divisions threatens the party’s ability to focus on critical national issues.

He further criticized what he described as a pattern of political interference by state actors, alleging that such influences are fostering instability within opposition parties. Obi warned that these disruptions often shift attention away from governance and nation-building, replacing it with power struggles and exclusionary politics.

Reaffirming his commitment to Nigeria’s progress, Obi emphasized the need for political platforms that prioritize service, unity, and solutions to the country’s pressing challenges rather than internal conflicts.
