The Labour Party Nigeria in Abia State has officially announced the composition of its newly elected State Working Committee (SWC), marking a significant step in strengthening the party’s structure ahead of future political engagements.
The announcement, made on April 25, 2026, confirms a broad mix of experienced political figures, professionals, and grassroots mobilizers tasked with steering the party’s affairs across the state.
Leading the new executive is Peter Azubuike, who assumes office as State Chairman. He is supported by multiple deputy chairmen representing various interests, including labor unions such as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), reflecting the party’s strong ties to organized labor.
Key administrative roles have also been filled, with Chuks Akamadu appointed as State Secretary, alongside assistant secretaries tasked with ensuring smooth coordination of party activities. Financial oversight will be handled by Joy Ngozi Anyanwu as Treasurer and Hon. Elvis Nwagbara as Financial Secretary.
The committee also places emphasis on inclusion and grassroots mobilization. Elizabeth Udo Kalu leads as State Women Leader, supported by several deputies, while Uche Nwagbo heads youth affairs, backed by assistant youth leaders to drive engagement among young party members.
Legal, organizational, and public communication roles have also been assigned to ensure effective governance and party visibility across Abia State.
