Abia Suspends April Sanitation Exercise Ahead of Labour Party Congress

The Abia State Government has announced the cancellation of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, across the state.

According to the Commissioner for Environment, Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, the decision was taken to allow members of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State to fully participate in their State Congress, which is slated to hold on the same day.

With the cancellation, residents will not be subjected to the usual movement restrictions typically enforced during the sanitation exercise. Authorities have assured citizens that they are free to carry out their normal daily activities without any disruption.

Despite the suspension of the exercise, the Ministry of Environment urged residents to continue observing proper sanitation practices. Citizens are encouraged to keep their homes, markets, and business premises clean in order to promote a healthy and hygienic environment across the state.
