Aguocha Reaffirms Commitment to Constituents After Securing Labour Party Ticket

Hon. Obi Aguocha, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed deep appreciation to his constituents and the Labour Party following his emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election through an unopposed primary election.

Speaking shortly after the primary exercise, Aguocha described the outcome as a strong endorsement of his performance in office, personal integrity, and the growing acceptance of the Labour Party across Abia State.

According to the federal lawmaker, the successful conduct of the party’s primary elections across the state demonstrated the unity and strength of the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He noted that the primaries in the five wards of Ohuhu produced Governor Alex Otti as the party’s governorship candidate, alongside Senator Darlington Nwokocha for Abia Central Senatorial District and Hon. Anderson Akaliro for Umuahia North State Constituency, among other candidates across the state’s 184 wards.

Aguocha said his unopposed nomination reflected the confidence and trust reposed in him by the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.

“I feel honoured and delighted that the people who elected me have once again affirmed their confidence in my leadership by returning me unopposed. This is a testament to the work we have done, our character, and the growing significance of the Labour Party in Abia State,” he stated.

The lawmaker also commended party members and supporters for their massive turnout during the primary election, describing the process as peaceful, transparent, and credible. He praised the returning officer for ensuring a fair exercise.

Expressing confidence in the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections, Aguocha said the Labour Party remains well-positioned to retain its influence in Abia State due to its track record of governance and service delivery.

He pointed to the achievements of Governor Alex Otti and other elected Labour Party officials as evidence of the party’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens.

“We are confident of victory in 2027 and are fully prepared to retain our mandates. The work we have done speaks for itself, and we remain committed to serving the people,” he said.

Aguocha further assured constituents that he and other Labour Party office holders would continue prioritizing the welfare of Abians. He pledged to accelerate ongoing projects, complete unfinished initiatives, and fulfil campaign promises made to the people.

According to him, public service remains the party’s central focus, and efforts would be intensified to deliver more developmental projects and effective representation at both state and national levels.
