BREAKING: Fake DG Forged Gbajabiamila’s Letter, Ran 34 Bank Accounts — Presidency

The Presidency has disowned Adeniyi Adeyemi, alleging that he fraudulently presented himself as the Director-General of a non-existent federal agency, forged an appointment letter purportedly issued from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, and operated dozens of bank accounts under fake government identities.

According to the Presidency, Adeyemi is currently facing an eight-count criminal charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations bordering on forgery, impersonation, obtaining by false pretence, and other related offences.

The Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, led by Femi Gbajabiamila, disclosed that investigations uncovered an elaborate scheme allegedly orchestrated by the suspect to deceive both Nigerians and members of the international community.

The Presidency alleged that Adeyemi forged an official appointment letter bearing the name and signature of the Chief of Staff, falsely claiming he had been appointed as Director-General of the Federal Directorate of Rural Development, an agency it said does not exist within the Federal Government.

Officials further revealed that the suspect allegedly used the forged appointment documents to establish credibility, gain access to influential individuals, and conduct activities under the guise of representing the Federal Government.

One of the most disturbing findings, according to the Presidency, was the discovery that Adeyemi allegedly opened and operated 34 separate bank accounts using the names of fictitious government agencies. Authorities believe the accounts were used to facilitate fraudulent financial transactions and lend legitimacy to his activities.

The Presidency also accused the suspect of misleading foreign diplomats and representatives of international organisations by inviting them to meetings and engagements under the false impression that he was a senior government official acting on behalf of the Federal Government.

It stated that the alleged actions not only constituted criminal offences but also had the potential to damage Nigeria’s reputation and undermine public confidence in government institutions.

Government officials stressed that Adeyemi has never been appointed to any position within the Presidency or any recognised federal agency. They urged members of the public, diplomatic missions, development partners, and private organisations to verify the authenticity of government appointments and official correspondence before engaging with individuals claiming to represent federal institutions.

The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity of public offices and ensuring that anyone found impersonating government officials or engaging in fraudulent activities is prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The case is currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where Adeyemi is expected to answer the eight criminal charges filed against him. The matter is expected to proceed in line with the judicial process, while the suspect remains presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court.
