BREAKING: Mayor Lucky Igbokwe Denies Withdrawal Rumours Ahead of Reps Primary

The media office of Mayor Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe has dismissed widespread reports alleging that he has stepped down from the race for the House of Representatives seat representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.

In a press release issued to address the growing speculation on social media, the campaign described the reports as false, misleading, and politically motivated attempts aimed at confusing supporters and creating unnecessary tension ahead of the party primaries.

According to the statement, Mayor Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe remains fully committed to his ambition and has neither withdrawn from the contest nor entered into any agreement to abandon his aspiration.

The statement reaffirmed that the aspirant remains focused on providing quality representation, inclusive leadership, and people-oriented governance for the people of the constituency.

The campaign also reacted to ongoing conversations surrounding equity, zoning, and political balance within the federal constituency. It noted that no official position of the party has declared the House of Representatives seat exclusively zoned to Umuahia North or micro-zoned to Ohuhu, contrary to claims circulating in some political quarters.

It further stressed that political offices within the constituency have historically rotated across different blocs peacefully and without division. The statement referenced previous political arrangements where key positions such as the governorship and Abia Central Senatorial seat went to Ibeku without controversy or tension.

The media office urged political stakeholders and supporters to embrace democratic engagement and avoid spreading fake news capable of misleading the public.

Describing the rumours as a failed political strategy, the statement called on party faithful, delegates, and supporters to remain focused on issue-based politics ahead of the primaries.
