COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE OHUHU TRADITIONAL PRIME MINISTERS
OHUHU TRADITIONAL PRIME MINISTERS UNANIMOUSLY ENDORSE RT. HON. OBI AGUOCHA FOR A SECOND TERM
1. Following a consultative meeting between the Ohuhu Traditional Prime Ministers and Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, held in the House of Chief Dr Barr Sunny Ibeneme TPM, the Traditional Prime Ministers held extensive and fruitful deliberations on representation, development, legislative continuity and the future political interests of Ohuhu and the wider Federal Constituency.
2. The meeting, conducted in an atmosphere of brotherhood, frank engagement and mutual respect, provided an opportunity to examine the Honourable Member’s stewardship in the 10th National Assembly, his legislative engagements, constituency interventions and the importance of sustaining initiatives requiring continued parliamentary attention and institutional follow-through.
3. In arriving at our collective position, we thoroughly assessed Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha’s legislative journey from 2023 to date, taking into consideration his legislative activities, representation and constituency engagements, as well as the challenges encountered in the course of his first-term mandate. Following this assessment, the Ohuhu Traditional Prime Ministers expressed satisfaction with his scorecard and performance so far. Accordingly, on the stated considerations of merit, equity and legislative continuity, the Traditional Prime Ministers reached a unanimous position that Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha deserves their support for re-election in 2027 for a second term in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
4. The meeting further observed that legislative continuity provides an opportunity to consolidate ongoing initiatives, strengthen institutional relationships and sustain the pursuit of greater federal attention and developmental opportunities for Ohuhu and the entire Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
5. The Traditional Prime Ministers nevertheless charged Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha to regard the confidence expressed in him as a call to greater responsibility and service. He was encouraged to deepen grassroots consultation, strengthen engagement with traditional and community institutions, and continue pursuing critical developmental priorities, particularly roads and erosion control, healthcare, education, youth development and employment, electricity, human capital development and access to federal programmes and interventions.
6. The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the peace, unity and dignity of Ohuhu throughout the political season. While the Traditional Prime Ministers have taken a collective position, they recognise the democratic rights of individuals to hold differing political opinions and therefore call for issue-based, respectful and peaceful political engagement devoid of bitterness, insults and unnecessary division.
7. Accordingly, the Ohuhu Traditional Prime Ministers unanimously endorsed Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha for a second term in the House of Representatives and resolved to work collectively towards the pursuit and actualisation of his re-election in 2027, while continuing to engage him on the developmental aspirations and legitimate expectations of the people.
8. For us, the overriding consideration remains the peace, unity, equity and development of Ohuhu and the greater good of the entire Federal Constituency.
