Tinubu Appoints Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Foreign Affairs Minister, Nominates Sola Enikanolaiye
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, following the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, now takes on the top diplomatic role as part of the administration’s broader strategy to strengthen Nigeria’s global presence and diplomatic influence.
In a related development, President Tinubu has nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the National Assembly.
Before his nomination, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. A veteran diplomat, he brings over 30 years of experience in Nigeria’s foreign service, including roles as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and postings in key international cities such as Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.
According to a State House statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy framework for improved efficiency, strategic engagement, and stronger international partnerships.

President Tinubu congratulated the appointees and urged them to focus on promoting Nigeria’s national interest, advancing economic diplomacy, strengthening regional stability, and protecting the welfare of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
