Emeka Ike Confronts INEC Staff Over Alleged NDC Collusion at Abuja Primaries
Popular Nollywood actor and politician, Emeka Ike, caused a stir during the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries held in Abuja on Friday after openly confronting officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged political bias.
The actor, who is contesting for the AMAC/Bwari House seat under the platform of the newly formed NDC, accused INEC officials of secretly collaborating with members of his party during the ongoing 2027 primary elections.
According to reports from the scene at INEC’s Area 10 office in Abuja, Emeka Ike claimed he spotted individuals he identified as NDC officials within the commission’s premises. The incident reportedly led to a heated confrontation, attracting attention from party members, observers, and supporters present at the venue.
In a viral statement circulating online, Ike expressed distrust toward the electoral body and questioned why alleged NDC representatives were seen around the office environment.
“We just came to INEC at Area 10 and saw a vehicle carrying some NDC officials in the corner. INEC, we have never trusted you, and these people were found at your premises. What were NDC officials doing there? I have evidence of those people — sue me to court,” he reportedly stated.
The dramatic moment quickly sparked reactions on social media, with critics and supporters sharing differing opinions over the actor’s allegations. While some backed Ike’s concerns and demanded transparency from electoral authorities, others argued that INEC only supervises party primaries and does not directly organize internal party elections.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress, founded in February 2026 by former Bayelsa State Governor Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has continued to gain attention ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party also gained prominence after several notable political figures, including Peter Obi, aligned with the movement earlier this year.
Despite the growing controversy, INEC has not officially responded to the allegations raised by Emeka Ike at the time of filing this report. Likewise, there has been no independent verification confirming the actor’s claims regarding alleged collusion between electoral officials and party representatives.
Political observers believe the incident reflects the increasing tension and mistrust already surrounding preparations for the 2027 elections, especially as newer political parties attempt to challenge Nigeria’s established political structure.
